How to Send Files Between Android and iPhone
Last updated: October 26, 2026
AirDrop only works between Apple devices, and Android's Quick Share only works with
Android and Windows. When you need to move a file between an Android phone and an
iPhone, you need a method both platforms understand.
Android → iPhone
- On the Android phone, open androiddrop.com (or the AndroidDrop app)
and add the files.
- Tap Finish upload & create QR.
- On the iPhone, open the Camera app and point it at the QR. Tap the link that
appears; Safari opens the download page.
- Safari saves files to the Files app → Downloads. To put a photo in
your Photos library, open it in Files, tap Share, then Save Image.
iPhone → Android
- On the iPhone, open androiddrop.com in Safari and tap Choose files. You can
pick from Photo Library or Browse (the Files app).
- Finish the upload and show the QR to the Android phone.
- Scan with the AndroidDrop app, or with Google Lens / the camera app.
Things to know
- HEIC photos: iPhones save photos as HEIC by default. Most modern Android
phones open them, but older ones may not. On the iPhone you can switch to
Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible to shoot JPEG.
- Live Photos upload as a still image; the motion part isn't included.
- Files are transferred at full quality — nothing is recompressed.
